Eight contestants are left in this year`s Idol competition sponsored by etisalat Nigeria. The contestants are, Diwari Peterside, Honey Adum, Lynda Giami, Stephen Onochie, Najite El-David, Joe Anthony Ekpo and Mercy Chinwo. The eight contestants left the foreign scene for the local as they sang songs written and sang by Nigerians. This excited one of the Judges (Charles Oputa a.k.a Charly Boy) as he queried why it took this time for the contestants to sing local songs. The first contestant of the show was Diwari Peterside, a lawyer turned musician, who sang Onyeka Owenu`s“ YOU AND I”, Honey Adum followed as he sang Mike Okri`s “OMOGE”, Lynda Giami sang late Christy Essien Igbbokwe`s “SEUN RERE”, Orlando Owo`s “ IYAWO ASIKO” was sang by Stephen Onochie, Najite El-David sang “WAIT FOR ME” by Sunny Ade and Onyeka Owenu, Nneka Njoku sang “OLOMI” by Tosin Martins, Joe Anthony Ekpo sang Felix Liberty`s IFEOMA and Mercy Chinwo sang late Bobby Benson`s “TAXI DRIVER” in the Mandy Ojugbana`s version. The eight contestants no doubt gave their best as they thrilled the audience. But these two contestants namely Ekpo and Onochie stood out that they got both the audience and the judges applauding for minutes as they repeatedly shouted their names. Nevertheless, two out of these eight talents will have to be evicted next week. Who will they be? The viewers (Voters) have the final say.Picture above shows Diwari singing “YOU AND I” by Onyeka Owenu
